Unfit Puzzle of Life

Image
There has been a lot of analogies to describe what life is. Most common includes roller coaster, road, a dance, mountain or an adventure. These comparisons are indeed good way to understand what life really is. However, sometimes we forget that life is actually not just about "our" journey but how we interact with the people around us. We are spaces with specific forms in which people around us would conform. Some would fit, sometimes partially and most they simply don't. Here, I would utilize a puzzle to give light another perspective of life, more specifically an "unfit" puzzle. People do not necessarily "fit" with each other. All of us have imperfections. We are not fabricated according to well-thought plan. This is not to deviate from an idea that there exists an Omnipotent God. But I would rather discuss it away from that light. We are not the same. We can not say parts of us suit perfectly with anyone. The fact is the "most suita...

Happiness is Like a Glass of Water

Image
The constant struggle of finding and experiencing happiness is always present. Many people try different ways to achieve a state of satisfaction and contentment that people seem to observe from others than being innately within themselves. This makes happiness seem a phenomenon of the third person than being owned. The reason perhaps why we think this way is that we see happiness more than how we should see a plane glass of water. This blogpost will focus on this. When you see a glass of water what would you think? Do you think of the glass that contains the water? Do you seem to make expectations on what the water should be before you drink it, cold or warm or perhaps sparkling? Do you think of water only when you are thirsty or not? These are the guide questions, this blogpost will revolve around to make an analogy between happiness and a glass of water. The Glass What shows on the outside is not necessarily what is inside. The glass sometimes influence our thirst. We human beings...

Priorities Change Overtime

Image
Change is indeed the only constant in this world. Although not all of us are open to adapt to change, it happens continuously as if no one could control the change that is either happening in us or the environment surrounding us. With this stream of uncontrollable change is the changes on how we see our lives, and what values are more important to us, as we learn lessons from our experiences, which are brought about by these changes. We change and so our priorities as well. However, there are many things that should be put into consideration when one changes priorities. What happens to the old list of priorities? Are they simply replaced, or merely set aside? What does this change do to us in the long run? And are there instances when changes in setting priorities could be wrong or have gone to much? These questions will this blogpost attempt to shed light on. Change is not irreversible. Unlike butterflies, which can never go back to being cocoons, the change in our priorities...

Traveling By Foot: Reflections

Image
Conozco is a Spanish term for knowing. Conozco Pablo literally means "I know Pablo." Through my blogposts, one will understand my personal and social perspective. In the past two years of blogging, I have already written exactly 200 posts by now. There are several themes revolving around life, emotions, relationships, social issues and travel. Those topics maybe irrelevant from each other, but all articles are deeply associated with my experiences and from where I come from. Not long ago, I was struggling for a decent future and even with supporting my family's needs. I strongly believed that through doing good in school, I would be successful in life through hardwork and determination. From that dream I had and to where I stand now, I could say the distance I traveled was quite long enough. It took a lot of effort, luck and guts, but I am happy on what I have become - imperfect, changing for the better but satisfied. If I could make an analogy of my life in the ...

The Perfect Gift

Image
Anyone would be happy to receive a gift. May it be small or big, the most important is that the person who gave the gift somehow took time to prepare and find the gift that suits one. In return, the person receiving a gift would weigh in whether accepting the gift is well-deserved or not. Nonetheless, a gift is something of value to show someone's worth. In this blogpost, I will present three concepts associated with gifts. This is to remind us that rather questioning on our worthiness of accepting gifts, we should rather be thankful regardless of reasons for it. This to qualify what "perfect" gifts are. The perfect gift is a reflection of another's perception to one. There will always be perfect gifts, which are suited and "custom-made" for the recipients. It is therefore correct to believe that no one other than the specified recipient deserves such gift. However, to say one recipient deserves a gift is independent from the either size, market value or...

Love and Order of Mathematical Operations (PEMDAS)

Image
Do you remember PEMDAS rule? Maybe many have tried to forget this rule as an attempt to dump mathematical concepts in our unconscious mind. No one can blame that since many find mathematics as difficult, complicated and without use, although it is not. Now, since Valentine's Day, I will try to explain love and relationship through the PEMDAS rule. PEMDAS stands for parenthesis, exponent, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. This rule guides on how to simplify equations, or get the answer of a series of mathematical operations. Say for example below: 4^2 + 2 ( 3×5 ) ÷ 3 - 3 Using PEMDAS rule, perform the operations inside the (P) parenthesis: 4^2 + 2 ( 15 ) ÷ 3 - 3 This is followed by (E) Exponents 16 + 2 ( 15 ) ÷ 3 - 3 Then, perform (M) multiplication operations. 16 + 30 ÷ 3 - 3 (D) Division follows then (A) addition and (S) subtraction. 16 + 10 - 3 26 - 3 23 The answer is 23. The PEMDAS provides a strict guidance on how to solve mat...

When Fate Decides

Image
Not everyone believes on fate, because many thinks everything is within the control of our will and decisions. Perhaps, the most logical thing one could believe is that we decide for our future, but I believe on both fate and will. I have never thought fate could do so much in my life, but it has in many ways. Unexpected turn of events that no one could ever thought have made significant changes in my life, such that when fate decides, what can we do? Fate is seemingly a path independent to our plans and aspirations. It seems to be predetermined. Many think events in our lives have been weaved out by a Supreme Being as God. Some think we are the one, who decides and make this predetermination. In my experience, I believe more on the existence of God, rather than associating everything to our will. I, myself plans almost everything that I want to happen in my life to every detail. However to my surprise, there are things better than I have thought I never realized, which happened...

Into the Darkness

Image
How do we feel if we only see the dark? Is life worth living? Perhaps it is still, but does darkness reduce the essence of our lives? Many questions to answer, but certain responses. What exist are mere assumptions of why sometimes we need to experience the darkness. Darkness is reality. One relates to something void and empty, rather than reality. It is real to feel our presence in the dark. Similarly, in the darkness of our lives, where problems and uncertainties cloud us, we feel real. This reality presents the hardships the world can offer to anyone. However, one must separate darkness itself from the metaphorical comparison of darkness to adversities in our lives. These are two distinct concepts. Problems are problems and must not be perceived as something dark. Problems are parts of our perceived reality. It exists not because for us to give us hope or make us stronger and better, rather it exists because it is part of our existence. We just need to deal with it, and t...

A " Thursday" Relationship

Image
Thursday is considered by most as the fourth day of the week. When this day comes, a mixture of emotions are felt by everyone, who sees and anticipates the forthcoming weekend. In relationships, there is a period in which the individuals concerned experiences a variety of events before an anticipated "weekend" in a relationship. When we say weekend, people perceive it differently, which influences how a person feels on Thursday, the fourth of the week. Here are the various ways in comparing Thursday with the its counterpart in describing one's state of relationship. A state of ambivalence When one feels that he or she is in the middle stage of a relationship, one feels confused on what to do. This stage can be considered as the plateau stage, when some conflicts have been resolved but it is possible that some problems still exists despite the effort to address it. This leaves one the feeling of uncertainty whether the best or worst is yet to come. In the same way, a p...

Flip Flops for Life

Image
Wearing flip flops is one of the most comfortable when going out for me. It seems to be very informal but coming from and raised in a tropical country the Philippines, it is very common for people to wear it. Although this article is not about a pair of slippers but how a pair of flip flops can be compared to how an individual lives his or her life. Risk versus Comfort Slippers do not provide full protection of the feet like other footwears, although it is very comfortable to wear whether one is outside or inside his or her home. It does not take time to put slippers on and is very convenient to store and clean as well. In life, the most comfortable things are also the most risky ones. Moreover, to feel comfortable, one must risk first. This is not completely true but there is a reason for people to believe on this. Some people however seems to overdo things by risking everything including ones reputation, values and principles in exchange of short-lived comfort and pleasure. This is...

Love Compared to Real Estate Properties

Image
Love encompasses everything from attraction, mutual need satisfaction, communication, trust and everything related to the establishment of a strong happy relationship. On the other hand, real estate refers to land and all properties found in it. Primarily, love is based on subjective feeling that creates a strong foundation for anything beneficial to most number of people, while real estate is a totally different from love, since it seems to be materialistic. However, both concepts have a common ground, that is value. Real estate can be appraised to its value, while love has also value. In fact, finding the right person for someone is like the long search of a real estate property that suits to one's needs and financial capacity. So, how are real estate properties appraised? How is this related to love? The most common approach in determining the value of a house and lot is the market data method. This way uses data of sale prices of similar properties in the surrounding area...

Kite-Flying, Goals and Life

Image
When was the first time you learned to make kites fly? It was not easy, I assume; given there is a balance required to stabilize a mobile kite.  Generally, the design of the kite is crucial. It is a not shaped ordinarily like any parallelogram and it has a tail. The shape allows air to pass at faster speed in the upper portion of the kite than the lower counterpart. T his aids the kite to float in air. On the other hand, the kite’s tail maintains its upright position while flying and prevents it from spinning.  Moreover, the wind is also an important factor. If there is not enough wind, the person controlling the kite has to move or run to give the kite the thrust needed to fly. On a different scenario, when there is a strong wind, it is advantageous as the person could remain stationary, since the kite has achieved the sufficient pressure to fly. Of course, all these things depend on a string that connects the person and the kite; which maintains the distanc...
